Our Story
Our Story
Dr. Kambez Shukoor founded this practice on Connecticut Avenue NW in 2017, after serving in the U.S. Navy. He came to dentistry from the assistant’s stool first — enlisting as a Navy dental assistant before earning his DDS and going on to treat service members and veterans as a dentist in uniform.
That order of events shaped the practice. He had spent years watching how patients actually experience treatment before he was the one delivering it, and the office he opened reflects that: unhurried appointments, plans explained before they begin, and the surgical and restorative halves of a case kept in the same hands.
Opened as Connecticut Ave Cosmetic Dentistry and known today as DC Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry, the practice has stayed at the same Connecticut Avenue address throughout — serving Cleveland Park, Van Ness, Forest Hills, Chevy Chase, and the wider DC area.
His full story — the Navy years, the training, and the credentials behind the clinical work — lives on Dr. Kambez Shukoor’s page.

Philosophy
Our Approach to Care
Three things decide how a case goes here: keeping it in one set of hands, telling you the truth about it, and not rushing you through it.
Comprehensive care under one roof
Most patients needing an implant are sent to a surgeon to have it placed and back to a dentist to have it restored. Here both halves are done in-house, which removes the gap where responsibility usually gets lost. The same is true across the board: general dentistry, cosmetic treatment, implants, dentures, and emergency care all sit in one practice.
Honest case planning
You see the photographs and imaging we are looking at, and you get the plan in writing with costs attached before treatment starts. Where a simpler option would serve you just as well, we say so — and where waiting is a legitimate choice, that is presented as an option too.
Comfort-first, at your pace
Appointments are scheduled with enough time that nobody is being hurried out of the chair. Anxious patients are common here, and sedation options are available for anything that would otherwise be hard to face.
What that looks like in practice
- Diagnosis shown to you with photos and imaging, not just described
- Written treatment plans with costs before anything begins
- Options presented honestly, including the option to do nothing for now
- Surgical and restorative stages completed by the same dentist
- Insurance verified up front, with financing explained before you decide
Costs, insurance, and payment plans are set out on our financial information page.
The Office
Our Office
One office in the Hastings Condominiums at 4444 Connecticut Ave NW #106 — quiet, private, and equipped so that planning and treatment happen in the same place.

A calm, private space
The office is modern and deliberately unclinical — an upscale interior on Connecticut Avenue with private treatment rooms rather than an open bay. For patients who find dentistry stressful, that privacy does as much work as any technology in the building.

Technology that shortens treatment
- Low-dose digital X-rays, viewable on screen with you during the exam
- 3D cone beam imaging for planning implant placement before surgery day
- Digital scanning in place of impression trays for most cases
- Guided surgery for accurate, predictable implant positioning
- Dental lasers for soft-tissue treatment
- Sedation options for patients who need them
Getting here: the office sits on Connecticut Avenue NW with Metro and bus service close by, and free on-site parking is available for patients. Full directions are on our locations page.
Community
Giving Back
The practice's roots are military, and the community work follows from that.
A full smile makeover for a veteran in need
Dr. Kambez Shukoor provided a complete smile makeover — implants and implant-supported dentures — at no cost to a military veteran in need, work that was covered by local news at the time. He has said he hopes to keep helping veterans in the future.
Having spent his own career in uniform before opening the practice, treating veterans is not a marketing exercise here — it is the population he trained on and worked with for years.

Enlisted as a U.S. Navy dental assistant, later a dentist treating service members and veterans at a federal health care center, and in private practice in Washington, DC since 2017.
If you are a veteran or an active service member and have a question about care here, call (202) 363-2810 and ask for the front desk.
The Team
Meet the Team
You are treated by Dr. Shukoor, but most of your appointment is spent with the hygienists, assistants, and front-office team around him.

Cleanings, X-rays, insurance answers, scheduling, and the follow-up call after surgery all come from the same small team, which is why patients tend to recognise the same faces year after year.
Individual introductions live on our staff page, and Dr. Kambez Shukoor’s page covers his training and credentials in full.
Why Choose
DC Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry
One Connecticut Avenue office, one dentist accountable from diagnosis through the final restoration, and a 4.9 rating across 303+ Google reviews.
Surgery and Restoration Under One Roof
Dr. Kambez Shukoor both places and restores implants, so there is no hand-off between a surgeon and a second dentist — one plan, one point of accountability. See dental implants.
Honest Case Planning
You see the photos and imaging we are looking at, get a written plan with costs before anything starts, and hear the option of doing nothing when that is genuinely reasonable.
Comfort-First Care
Appointments are not rushed, and sedation options are available for anyone who finds dental treatment difficult — including patients who have avoided it for years.
Implant and Cosmetic Focus
This is not a general office that occasionally does complex work. Cosmetic and full-arch implant cases are the practice’s daily work, backed by FAGD, FICOI, and MICOI credentials.
